Fifth and West is the location in Downtown Austin that is set to break ground on what is slated to be the fifth-tallest building in the city. The condo tower is projected to be 448 feet tall.
The soon-to-start project is planned for the northeast corner of Fifth and West intersection. Demolition on the current site will start later by the end of October. The 39-story tower will bring 154 new luxury condos to the Austin real estate market. Barring any setbacks, the tower is expected to open in the fall of 2017. A spokesman for the developer, Riverside Resources, stated that units will start in the $500,000s.
Riverside Resources is the company that built the Whitley apartment high rise in downtown. They have since sold that project, and have set their sights on a new office building near Capital of Texas Highway (Loop 360) and Bee Cave Road, among other projects.
This project, named Fifth & West Residences, will be the second condominium tower to be under construction downtown. The other one is the 30-story Seaholm Residences at the former Seaholm Power Plant on West Cesar Chavez. The upscale tower will include conference spaces, outdoor and lounge areas, a fitness center, a yoga studio, a pool deck and a dog park — complete with an indoor lounge and coffee bar.
